I was born in '75, and Charlie was the hero in our house, unquestionably. We were pretty much brainwashed to think so. My Dad spent most of his working life as a farm labourer & did as good as he could by us in the circumstances, & yes we had the whole butter voucher generational thing, but my parents always believed the future of the country was improving & the likes of those handouts would be a thing of the past. I think that the exposing of Charlie for who he was, hurt a huge amount of people & the likes of my parents felt like they'd been personally conned for being fool enough to credit the man with any sense of accountability for the State & it's people. I presume that they will remain faithful to Batholomew Patrick Ahern, CJ's accomplice. I will be amused to see the next round of FF spin on a possible coalition with Labour after the next election. After all, ex IRA FF has far more in common with ex IRA Sinn Fein... a bunch of freedom fighters who used illegal means to finance their campaign. 2nd Generation FF (Haughey, Burke etc) refined the methods, then took the money for themselves. If we believe McDowell, the IRA are still robbing banks rather than creating parallel, tax-dodging banks for themselves. How very blue-collar... FF has moved on since then!
