The great, all new, all reforming, all accountable Seanad opened today.
Fine Gael Senator Paddy Burke was elected Cathaoirleach, a few predictably inane speeches were mouthed before they all agreed to adjourn for a week.
Enough said – Abolish this elitist club.
I heard the same Paddy Burke in an interview with RTE on 1 o’clock news before Senate sat. He would not give a straight answer to the question of whether he supported his party leader’s intention to abolish the Senate. Another party gobdaw. Ireland deserves better.
As reported on Newstalk he is “a lifelong supporter of Kenny in Mayo”. So we get the same old cronyism we had under Cowen, ahern et al. And nobody has raised a whimper about it. Official Ireland is alive & well.
